SnapFish - Online Photo Printing
I read news at The Strait Times that SnapFish, which is under HP now, has entered Singapore market.
SnapFish offers high quality prints for only S$0.19 each, which is considered low cost. If you print your digital photo outside, it will cost you S$0.30 at least per photo. With SnapFish, you can upload and print photo at your convenience. In addition, SnapFish provides online photo sharing and unlimited photo storage, as long as you purchase photo merchandise (prints, enlargements, or any photo gift) through the website at least once every 365 days.
Obviously their target market is computer-savvy users, who like to order online, and photographers to archive and show off their photos collection.
It would be interesting to see how technology moves from traditional film to digital photo to online photo sharing and how traditional photo shops will compete with SnapFish. Traditional photo shop has advantage, though, because they serve their customers personally. In order to survive, traditional photo shops need to be more innovative, in terms of service, and provides better customer service to their existing customers, which can lead to cross-sales. For example, photo shops can teach their customers to take better photograph and assist their customers in photo development.
